Restoration of the roof with replacement of the glazing.

The restoration work to restore the gallery to its original beauty was complex, not least because of the choice of materials. Madras® Millerighe glass was used for the roof glazing because it was considered to be the most faithful to the characteristics of the glass used when the gallery was built: its morphology, diffused brightness and colour tone blend perfectly with the elegance of the original 19th-century structure.

However, the replacement of the glass was also dictated by safety considerations: thanks to the specialist work carried out by the Quidam glassworks, in particular the lamination process, Madras® Millerighe glass has become a structural element in its own right, satisfying the requirements of historical accuracy, aesthetics and public safety.
